The Unifying Thread Between Nature and Art
An MFA thesis project that inspects the intersection of human-created and naturally occurring designs in our surroundings. The project focuses on highlighting the beauty and complexity of natural forms in order to foster respect towards nature. The shapes of diatoms and other ocean creatures are arranged into geometric compositions that are inspired by stained glass windows and the concepts of sacred geometry. The 3-dimensional textile art installation suggests a possibility of harmonious cohabitation of human and nature. The installation was a part of the Arts and Humanities 2019 Graduate Exhibition at the Manetti Shrem Museum of Art in Davis, California.
